Fastgate Service at Europoort

Self service process for checking in at Europoort or disembarking at Europoort

Transforming Freight Terminal Process with Fastgate

We are excited to announce the launch of our latest service enhancement - the ‘Fastgate’ system. This innovative solution, building upon our Terminal Operating System (TOS) improvements in Europoort, is set to transform freight gate processes for operational excellence with faster processing times and a more efficient experience at the terminal.
The Fastgate operation will be phased in over a few weeks to allow customers, drivers and staff to adjust to the new process.
Initially the Fastgate will be operational for Unaccompanied traffic only, and that will be swiftly followed a few weeks later with the Accompanied traffic.

The Fastgate system comprises:

  • 1) New electronic signage at the freight gate to provide clear and easy to follow instructions for the drivers.
  • 2) A camera portal that will analyse all vehicles in and out of the terminal, for both road and rail traffic, providing ANPR
(automatic number plate recognition), vehicle measurement and a full 360-degreee capture of the vehicle and unit condition.
  • 3) A self-service kiosk providing a multi-language user interface for drivers to gate-in and out of the terminal automatically,
or to check in for a sailing.
  • 4) An automated barrier system for swift entry and exit of the terminal.

This comprehensive approach will provide a smooth, efficient, and secure entry and exit process, reducing waiting times and
optimising traffic flow within our terminals.

These innovations will bring some changes to the way drivers enter and exit the terminal and the level of information required
before arrival. The key process changes are listed below and you can find a step by step guide and other elevant documents at
the bottom of the page.

Please note that all vehicles entering the freight gate must have a valid booking.

Key process changes:

  • 1) A valid booking is mandatory for entry to the port – except for empty units. Vehicles without a booking will not be permitted to enter the terminal.
  • 2) Bookings cannot be created or changed at the port, units must travel as booked.
  • 3) Rail (unit arrives by road to Europoort - departs via rail) & Storage (unit arrives by road to Europoort - departs via road) bookings can be made by contacting the freight
office at the following email address: fastgatebooking@poferries.com. Booking for rail and storage via EDI will also be available soon.
  • 4) Payments for bookings needs to be made in advance, it is not possible to pay for bookings at the Fastgate.

Please reach out to your account manager if you would like further information or need assistance.
